In Indonesia, this sweet dessert is particularly well-liked. Everyone enjoys Martabak Manis, a very thick “pancake” with the usual fillings of Cheese and condensed milk, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, and chocolate. Has it condensed milk and Cheese? Really? Yeah!! So wonderful! This dish is a little challenging because it needs to have a very little hollow. The martabak manis won’t burn before it’s finished if you use a very thick pan instead of the Martabak Manis Pan.

Ingredients

250 g all purpose flour
½ tsp bicarbonate soda
2 hand full ground peanut
75 g sugar
150 g cheddar cheese
350 ml water
1 egg
¼ tsp salt
4 tbsp unsalted butter
condense milk
1 tsp water
3 hand full chocolate chunk

Step 1
MAKE BATER

After thoroughly combining the egg and 25gr of the sugar (we’ll save the rest for later), add the 350ml of water and stir again before adding the flour and salt. It should be thoroughly combined with no lumps before being placed aside for one to two hours.

Prepare your filling

You can follow the recipe exactly, or you can just tweak it to your liking by adding ingredients like Nutella, Toblerone, Cadbury, cream cheese, and Oreos. Everything depends on your taste. While your pan is heating, Take the batter, add the bicarbonate soda, and one teaspoon of water, and stir until thoroughly combined. Make sure your pan is heated enough and on low heat, then add half of the batter (or as necessary, depending on the size of your pan) and spread it to the pan’s edge to form the crust. After then, wait till the bubble breaks the surface.

Take some sugar and evenly distribute it over the martabak manis when it is halfway done. Place the lead and wait for it to finish. Golden brown and crispy on the outside but moist on the interior.

Spread the 2 tablespoons of butter evenly over the martabak manis while it is still hot. Then divide them in half.

FILLING

If you want to taste the classic martabak manis, you can fill it with crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, and condensed milk before topping it with chocolate powder. The filling should be applied to both sides. The other side then flips it. Then trim it.
